This lovely cabin is an absolute gem hidden in the forest!
The Nook is a unique experience, nestled at the foot of Kunyani (Mount Wellington). Lovingly handcrafted by a family of shipwrights who’d sailed from France nearly 50 years ago, its beautiful lines and curves have brought joy to all who've lived here. 10 mins to Hobart CBD and 35mins to the airport, the winding mountain roads will have you thinking you’ve escaped the hustle of city life in no time!

The Space:
There’s plenty to do here with a maze of walking tracks leading down to Hobart itself or up to Kunyani and also mountain bike trails, or you can just soak up the views of the valley from the many viewpoints. Close to many tourist spots like the Waterworks Reserve, Rocky Whelans Cave, The Springs Wellington Park, Strickland Falls, Cascade Brewery & Gardens, walking track on Mt Wellington & Rivulet to CBD, The Woman's Female Factory, etc. The house has a couple of snug bedrooms sleeping 4 and at present has a rather spectacular shower/bath (no spa available). There’s a breakfast balcony & BBQ along with a further outdoor lounge area.
We have a lovely long-term resident living just above the house, in the artists' workshop, whom we ask you to be mindful of their privacy. We also have a plethora of wallabies, pademelons, echidnas, and wedgetail eagles we share the valley with, so take care driving!
Getting Around:
4 min driving to Waterworks Reserve
5 min driving to Mount Nelson Oval And Playground
10 min driving to Hobart CBD
Other Things to Note:
*Remember no fires & no hurting the wildlife, the house is also may not suitable for small children.
There are no dangerous spiders but guests may find huntsman which are scary but very shy.
*Small dogs must be accompanied outside - the wedge-tail eagles will eat wallaby-sized animals!
*If walking in the bush, all Tasmania snakes are poisonous and in breeding season can be aggressive. Considering carrying snake bandages if going into dense bushland.
*Scorpion could be spotted in the area.
*We’re very lucky to have Tasmanian devils breeding close to the house. Please do not disturb them as they are endangered. They’re being monitored remotely by a local vet to ensure their safety.
*Please note that the house has two flights of stairs.
*The driveway is not suitable for large vehicles or rear-wheel drives such as vans or sports cars.
